Five Things You Should Not Do When Pressure Washing

Many people make the mistake of assuming that using a pressure washer is more or less the same as using a hose. However, a pressure washer is a powerful piece of equipment that can cause extensive damage if operated incorrectly.

At Springtime Enterprises LLC, we do service in commercial, retail shopping centers, industrial, and Office buildings. We perform the pressure washing in concrete and the walls/concrete in dumpster cages, concrete walkways, and metal signs. Pressure washing is also great for cleaning moss, gum, oil, and other debris stained on a concrete surface. Cleaning building awnings are another part of the pressure washing service. Here are the five things that you should not do when pressure washing:

Ignore Safety Precautions: Make sure to wear appropriate safety gear and remove any debris or loose items from the area you will clean.

Apply Too Much Pressure: It’s best to always start on the lowest setting and adjust up slowly. Remember that a full blast setting could damage your property or injure you if things get out of hand.

Start with a Tight Pattern: You should begin pressure washing with broad, even strokes until you adjust to the power level. If you focus on a small area, you run the risk of damaging the exterior of your property/building.

Blast Directly into Corners: Spraying a corner with a pressure washer will direct the blast back towards you. You’ll wind up soaked at best and injured at worst.

Use Water Only: Mix a combination of water and cleaning solution to achieve the best results. If you only use water, you won’t get the rejuvenated look you want.

If you are not sure that you can handle the task, you do have options. Remember that you can always choose pressure washing professionals to ensure the job is done correctly.
